Born 30th August 2008
3 Girls
1 Boy
These 4 bundles of fluff are looking for their new home because their owner was unable to keep them.
Unfortunately his cat had escaped and got pregnant. These cuties are the result.!
They were quite nervous at first but are quickly learning to trust people.
All they need are time and patience for them to blossom.

Born at the Sanctuary - 29th September 2008
Mum was a stray who was rescued in the nick of time. The day after arriving at Mayflower she gave birth to these 8 beautiful kittens. Would they have all survived on the streets?
Luckily for these bundles of fun, we will never know but they are safe here until they find loving homes.

All under 1 year old
Guinea Pigs
Female
These lovely girls came to us from a family who’s children had grown bored of taking care of them properly
Please remember that even small furries need proper attention and can be time consuming to care for properly.
Guinea pigs are sociable creatures so ideally these girls will be homed in pairs or with another female pig for company.
Please ask a member of staff for further details

Why am I here?
I guess the novelty of caring for me wore off !
I am quite an escape artist so my hutch will need to be secure and I’m not very keen on being picked up although I do like to have my fur brushed. Good job really because it has to be done regularly or else it tangles badly.
I have been neutered so I would be able to be homed with a female rabbit if introduced carefully.

Lived with other cats
Into care 4 November 2008
Dee came to us, along with her sister Gabby, because their previous owners were unable to look after them properly anymore.
She is an extremely loving cat once she gets to know you but can be a bit shy with strangers at first.
We have never been outside so would need our next owners to understand that we would be happier as housecats. A home together would be wonderful but not essential if the right home comes along separately.
All she wants is a loving home and a warm lap to curl up on.
Is that too much to ask?
We don’t think so – do you?

Charlie was the victim of a road accident. He was hit by a car and taken to the vets.
Charlie was very lucky because after a thorough checkup, it was found that he had escaped with minor cuts and bruises. His right eye has been damaged but the vets say that this wont have any affect on him in the future.
All Charlie needed now was his owners to come and collect him.
He waited and waited and….waited!
Nobody came !
When it became obvious that Charlie had been abandoned, Mayflower were contacted and agreed to help him find a new loving home with owners who will take care of him this time.

Beautiful aren’t I?
Why does nobody want me then?
I was found wandering the streets, having to find my dinner whenever and wherever I could.
Luckily a kind lady took pity on me and fed me.
Unfortunately she couldn’t keep me though and contacted the Vets for help. They got in touch with Mayflower and here I am waiting for a new loving home.
My carers here will make sure that this time my owners will take care of me properly and keep me safe.

Harry was found hopping around the car park outside a Police Station but managed to evade capture for most of the morning.
A group of caring lads finally cornered him and brought him to us.
He is a lovely guy and full of character. He is extremely friendly and loves to have his ears tickled but doesn’t like to be picked up.
Another escaper though who will need a secure home.

Not lived with dogs, children or cats.
Into care 20 October 2008
Nobody to love me !
Nowhere to call my own !
I was a stray and had been wandering the streets for quite a while when a kind gentleman took pity on me and started giving me my meals.
He couldn’t give me a home because he already had two cats who didn’t like the idea of sharing with me.
I didn’t particularly like them either !
My carers here will help me find a new home where I will be kept safe.
I will have to be rehomed where I will be an only pet as I don’t like other cats (I’m not keen on other cats or children either!)
I just want a quiet life with loving owners
Is that too much to ask.

Into care 7 October 2008
Its hard to believe that a handsome boy like me could be wandering the streets isn’t it?
I was picked up by the Dog Warden and taken to the local pound.
My time was running out when Mayflower heard of my plight and came to the rescue.
I’ve heard my carers say that I’m a happy, friendly boy.
I think I deserve a loving forever home with a warm fire,
don’t you?

Good with children
Into care 27 July 2008
Originally a stray, Tia came to us via the local Dog Pound.
Obviously heavily pregnant she was placed in a foster home where she gave birth to 7 puppies.
Mayflower have found all her young family loving homes of their own so its now Tia’s turn !
She is an absolute treasure to
have around.
Loving, playful and bright, all Tia needs now is a family to care for her forever and keep her safe.
It’s the least that she deserves.
I hope you agree.

Into care 2 September 2008
Hi, my name is Buzz
When my previous owners left the back gate open I tried to follow them.
Trouble was, I didn’t know where they had gone and tried to cross a busy road by myself.
I was hit by a car and badly injured.
The kind man in the car took me to the vets. They phoned my owners but, when they knew that there would be a bill to pay, decided to not collect me.
So now I am here looking for new owners who will take the time and trouble to keep me safe.
Its not much to ask is it?

Into care 19 August 2008
Bruno came to us when his previous owners found that they couldn’t cope with his puppy antics.
He was only doing what young dogs do best – chewing, being mischievous, boisterous and not always making it into the garden in time!!
We have found Bruno a delight to have around. He craves attention and will do anything for treats which should make his training easier.
Are you the right person to help Bruno complete his training?
I hope so.

Into care 3 October 2008
I’m here because my previous owners have decided that they can’t live together any more and there won’t be room for me at either house when they move!
I wouldn’t have taken up much room really and I would have been company during those lonely nights ahead but I didn’t have any say in the matter! I hope that my new owners will love me forever – almost as much as I will love them.
I really enjoy exploring the paddock, ask to take me in there and I will show you !

Has lived with dogs, children and other cats.
Into care 5 November 2008
Burton came to us, along with her sister Shev, because her previous owners were unable to look after her properly anymore.
She is an extremely loving cat once she gets to know you but can be a bit shy with strangers at first.
A home together would be wonderful but not essential if the right home comes along separately.
All she wants is a loving home and a warm lap to curl up on.
Is that too much to ask?
(Burton has an allergy to plastic bowls - so only the best china dishes please !!!

Why am I here you may be wondering?
I have been asking the same question myself !
I have heard my carers say that I was just unwanted – that’s hard for a gal like me to take.
I mean – what’s wrong with me?
I’m small, cute and love to play with a ball if you would like to throw it.
I think I deserve to have a new forever home where I will be loved and cared for – don’t you?

Randy came to us from another Rescue far away from here where he had been taken as a stray by the Dog Warden. When his ‘time was up’ and his future uncertain Mayflower was contacted and agreed to help Randy find his new forever home.
He needs time and patience to complete his training but with the right person we’re sure that Randy will blossom.

Hello, my name is Ruby.
I used to live in a nice home with another dog but he didn’t like me for some reason and kept attacking me whenever my owners weren’t looking. I don’t know why – perhaps he was jealous because I’m so cute!
Anyway, it was decided that I would come here to look for a new Mum and Dad who would love me and keep me safe forever.
Could that person be you?
But before you look into my beautiful brown eyes and fall in love, remember that puppies are
hard work!
But I’m worth it !!!!!

Mum (Bella) arrived at Mayflower heavily pregnant after being picked up as a stray. She gave birth the following morning to 11 puppies. Unfortunately they weren’t as healthy as we hoped, probably due to Bella having to fend for herself, and 5 babies died. The rest of the litter and Mum were placed in a foster home and, as you can see, are now healthy, robust and ready to venture out into the wide world.

Into care - 8 April 2008
Why am I still here?
That is the question I keep asking myself as I lay in my basket at night.
I have tried barking and jumping up at the front of my kennel when visitors go past but they always seem to look and then walk on and fuss one of my cuter friends.
Hey! I’m cute too you know!
What has a guy got to do around here to get your attention?
Ok, I don’t like cats and I’m not very keen on other dogs but that doesn’t mean that I can’t be your faithful friend. We could have great fun together if someone would just give me the chance to shine.

Female - 1 year old (approx)
Into care - 28th September 2008
Hattie came to us because her previous owners were unable to keep her. We knew that she was pregnant but didn’t realise that she would give birth to 8 kittens the following morning. This is her second litter and she is still only a year old herself. These are the last babies that she will have though as Mayflower will make sure that she is spayed.
Hattie is an extremely good mum and will stay here with her babies until they are old enough to find new homes of their own.
We are not sure if Hattie will get on with dogs, other cats or children at the moment.
Then its Hatties turn for a loving home of her own.

Good with other dogs.
Me & my pal (Jodie) came in through no fault of our own.
We are lovely girls and are soon becoming firm favourites of our carers. Just because we are getting on a bit please don’t overlook us – age doesn’t always matter
A home together would be lovely but not essential.

Age - 3 years
Into care - 10/07
Gets on with some dogs, we would recommend that she is homed with older children.
Callie’s owners have moved away and couldn’t take her with them.
Several members of the family promised to take care of her but when the time came they all made their excuses and Callie was left with nowhere to go.
We all think that she is lovely, affectionate girl who would blossom with a little TLC.
She doesn’t show herself well to visitors but ask to take her into the paddock and you will see the side of her that we know and love.

Male - 18 months old

Nibbs came to us because of a change in his owners circumstances and they found that they were unable to care for him anymore.

He has lived with other dogs that were in the same household but doesn’t seem to like strange dogs that he meets on walks. He needs an owner who is willing to work with him on that issue but they will receive all the help and support that they need from us.

Nibbs is very willing to learn though especially when there are tasty treats as rewards.

He is a lovely, happy dog who deserves someone to love him back.

Female - 18 months old

Jasmin came to us because of a change in her previous family’s circumstances meant that they were unable to care for any more.

Jasmin is quite nervous of strangers but once she get to know you, she is very loving. Because she doesn’t like to be crowded, her carers feel that she would be better placed in a family where the children (if any) were older.

All she needs is time and space for the real Jasmin to shine through and blossom.

Female 6 years old

We rescued Lizzie from the local pound where she had been taken after being picked up as a stray.

Being cold, wet and hungry weren’t her only problems!

She had an awful skin condition and was almost bald on her back and legs

As you can see Lizzie is in a much better condition now and enjoying life again.

Even after all she has been through, she is still one of the friendliest girls you could meet.

Ask to take her in the paddock and you will see.

Male 3 years old

My original owner left me with his Mum. I suppose he was only thinking of me but I was too much for her and she was finding it very hard to cope as I can be very boisterous. I was rehomed into what I thought was my forever home but again the lady found me too much to handle.

So here I am - looking for someone to give me another chance and a loving, forever home.

I’m a lovely boy but I can take a while to get to know and trust you.

4 year old male - not good with other dogs
Chip is here because he was fighting with the other dog in the household.

It was becoming impossible to keep them apart so reluctantly his owners agreed to allow Mayflower to help one of them find a new home.

It was decided that Chip would come to stay with us.

We have found him a delight to have around. Chip is loving and very eager to please. He needs someone to complete his training but we think he deserves a loving forever home.

Oh dear, I’m yet another casualty of the “were moving and cannot take the dog with us” syndrome. Soooooooooooooo I now find myself looking for a new home, hopefully a forever home this time. I would be better suited as an only dog and I’m sorry but I’m not keen on our feline friends either, I am good with children though.

Aren’t I a little cutie, well I think I am. Most people like little dogs so can someone please tell me why I am still here. My bed is only small, I’m sure it would fit into a corner of your house, as would I… I can curl up really small. My only stipulation is that it has to be placed not toooo far from a radiator cos I do like to be warm. I would feel better if i was loved and adored by a family with older children, a couple or a lovely person that lives on their own.
