Re-homing Centre for Abandoned And Abused Dogs
OUR MISSION
As the morning of the 6th of june 2003 dawned bright and clear we, the volunteers from Animals In Need 2000, a charity formed by a small group of like-minded people who just wanted to make a difference, opened their eyes and took a deep breath! After four long years of laughter, tears, heartache and many, many hours of endless fund-raising, our dream had become a reality.

The Mayflower Sanctuary, Narrow Lane, Bawtry, Doncaster had been born. Although not the prince of facilities, we have the vision and the will to restore, repair and rebuild. Armed with what looked like a years supply of rubber gloves, bleach and disinfectant, our small but dedicated band of volunteers rose to the occasion. With jet wash in one hand and paint brushes in the other, the transformation began. Hours turned into days. The scale of the job for such a small charity as Animals In Need 2000 was daunting. Dogs were waiting to come in so time would be of the essence if we were to be of help to our canine friends. The decision was made, a make-over it had to be.
Two very hectic and tiring weeks later, we were ready to welcome our first "guests". One of the first to arrive was a young, heavily pregnant Staffy X by the name of Lady. Ten days after her arrival, she presented us with a litter of 8 puppies.....our first birth! We had already taken in 6 seven week old puppies plus another 8 eleven day old pups that would otherwise have been put to sleep. We now had the task of finding safe, secure and loving homes for twenty-two puppies plus a little terrier of 8 months of age that was totally deaf!

Whilst out on fund-raising events people often ask us why we do what we do. Our reply, without hesitation....
ALL FOR THE LOVE OF OUR FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS
