Little Lilly came into the care of The Mayflower Sanctuary on Saturday the 23rd of October 2004. What met our eyes was so heart rendering, a pathetic bundle of sores and scabs with two very large, very sad brown eyes pleading with us to help her.

  We immediately called the vet out, this little puppy had to get treatment immediately, we could not leave her to suffer until surgery hours. The vet duly arrived and whisked her away. We all waited anxiously for her call. Eventually she rang back and informed us that Lilly had mange and was grossly underweight. The worst case she had ever seen in all her years of being a vet. This little pup, thought to be between four and six months of age must have been in agony.
So much so that she had been gnawing at herself to get some relief from the constant irritation.
This turned into constant pain with open sores. Her treatment will be on going and in time
her coat will return. Mentally her scars will take much longer to heal.		  
This special little girl has been placed into a foster-home and will not be ready for re-homing for quite some time but we will keep you updated on her progress. We are only a small self funding charity so if anyone would like to donate to the cost of her ongoing treatment and care because as you would expect she will be on medication for quite some time and require a special diet for her skin , we would be very grateful.
